Choosing a Spot Product: No Universal Quick Fix
Choosing a Spot Product: No Universal Quick Fix
There is no universal best spot treatment
A single visible spot does not tell you its cause or which product will suit it. Deep painful lumps, a spreading rash or repeated breakouts need a different decision from an occasional blemish. Do not use a product ranking to diagnose the problem.
Follow the actual product instructions
Products differ in ingredients, strength, where they should be applied and their warnings. A fixed cotton-swab routine, a higher concentration or more frequent application is not suitable advice for every product. Ask a pharmacist about a medicinal product and follow a prescriber's plan where relevant.
Avoid making the skin sore
Do not squeeze, pick or scrub a spot. Avoid layering several strong treatments or applying essential oils and kitchen mixtures in the hope of an overnight result. Stop an irritating cosmetic product and seek advice for a significant or persistent reaction.
Know when to seek help
There is no guaranteed overnight cure. Persistent, deep or painful acne, new scarring or significant distress warrants medical assessment. Cosmetic spot care cannot replace that assessment or establish whether a prescription medicine or procedure is appropriate.
