Facial lines can be related to movement, skin texture, sun exposure, volume change or a combination of these. Lines visible only during expression and lines present at rest are assessed differently. A consultation considers the whole area rather than a line in isolation.

Anti-wrinkle injections use a prescription-only medicine that reduces selected muscle activity temporarily. It is not suitable for everyone, does not resurface skin and cannot be assumed to remove an established crease. A prescriber must assess suitability before any treatment decision.

The consultation reviews medical history, medicines, previous procedures, facial movement and your priorities. The discussion includes skincare, other suitable procedures and no treatment. Treatment in one area is not automatically appropriate in another.

Possible effects include injection-site redness, tenderness, swelling, bruising or headache. Important risks can include asymmetry, unwanted muscle weakness and eyelid or brow droop, depending on the area. The clinician explains the medicine-specific and area-specific risks, warning signs and patient information before consent.

A doctor consultation may recommend another assessment, an alternative approach or no treatment.
What to expect

From your concern to an informed decision

Treatment is subject to consultation and an individual plan.

01 · Choose an area Tell us what you want to discuss

Choose the concern or area, review the factual price information and book a doctor consultation. Selecting an area does not confirm a procedure.

02 · Consultation Assess suitability and alternatives

The doctor reviews your history, the relevant anatomy and your goals. Discuss risks, expected limits, alternatives and total cost before deciding.

03 · Agreed plan Know the preparation and aftercare

If treatment is appropriate, you receive information for the specific procedure and review arrangements. Another approach or no treatment may be recommended.

The details behind your treatment choice

Explore the concern, the assessment and the questions to discuss before deciding.

What is assessed before an anti-wrinkle treatment plan?

Your doctor examines the area at rest and in movement, including brow and eyelid position, existing asymmetry and neighbouring muscles. The consultation records the change you want to discuss and the expression you would prefer to retain.

Medical history, medicines, previous treatment, infection, pregnancy or breastfeeding status and neuromuscular conditions are among the suitability factors that need to be discussed. Treatment may be deferred or not recommended.

What can treatment change, and what are its limits?

A movement-related line is different from a crease visible at rest. Reducing selected muscle activity does not directly replace lost volume or resurface the skin. The most suitable approach may therefore differ between areas.

Effects develop gradually, are temporary and vary between people. The clinician explains when a response can be assessed and whether a review is appropriate. A fixed result or duration is not promised.

Risks, alternatives and informed consent

Before deciding, ask about the proposed medicine, intended use, material risks and alternatives. Any use outside the medicine’s licensed indication requires its own explanation and individual prescribing decision; a listed concern is not a recommendation for that use.

Choosing no procedure remains an option. If a procedure is appropriate, your doctor explains what it can realistically achieve and the limits that may remain.

Preparation, recovery and aftercare

Tell the clinic about medicines, relevant conditions and previous procedures before the appointment. Follow the individual preparation instructions supplied for the agreed plan.

You receive specific aftercare, warning signs, clinic contact guidance and review arrangements. Temporary injection-site effects can occur; recovery depends on the procedure, area and individual response.

Understanding areas, prices and the consultation

The factual price list lets you select the area or concern you would like assessed. Doctor prices are shown first. A selected area is carried into the consultation request; it does not confirm that an injection is suitable.

Prices are subject to consultation. The exact plan and total charge must be confirmed before treatment. A doctor consultation has a separate £50 reservation fee; current payment and cancellation terms are shown in the booking app.

Questions before booking

Frequently asked questions.

Practical questions about the consultation and decision-making.

What can I discuss?
You can discuss the appearance of lines and wrinkles, your preferences, previous cosmetic care and the options that may be relevant. A consultation does not commit you to treatment.
Do I need a procedure?
No. The discussion may lead to skin-care advice, another suitable cosmetic option, further assessment or no procedure.
Are the same options available at every clinic?
No. Check the live Dr Sknn booking app for the exact service, clinic and eligible practitioner. Wilmslow is primary, Didsbury is active and Leigh is closed.
How much is a consultation?
Doctor, Nurse and Qualified Practitioner consultations are free. A separate £50 reservation fee applies to Doctor bookings. Check the booking app for current terms.
Can I book a specific procedure directly from this page?
This page is for consultation. A clinician must assess suitability and explain any proposed procedure, alternatives, risks and costs before you decide.
Where are cancellation and rescheduling terms?
Current cancellation and rescheduling terms are shown in the Dr Sknn booking app.
Will treatment remove my lines?
No result can be guaranteed. The likely benefit and limits of any suitable option are individual and should be discussed before consent.
What is the doctor consultation reservation fee?
A £50 reservation fee applies to the doctor consultation. Current payment, cancellation and rescheduling terms are shown in the booking app before you confirm.
Do I need to choose a procedure before consultation?
No. Select the area or concern you want to discuss. The doctor assesses suitability and explains options, risks and alternatives before you decide; the consultation may end with no procedure.
Where can I see the prices for my area?
Open the areas and prices panel from this page. Doctor prices are shown first and all treatment prices are subject to consultation. The final plan and charge must be confirmed before treatment.
What should I tell the doctor before treatment?
Explain your goals, relevant medical history, medicines and previous procedures. The clinician checks treatment-specific suitability and discusses realistic limits, material risks and alternatives.
What aftercare and review will I receive?
If a procedure is agreed, the clinic supplies preparation, aftercare, warning signs, contact guidance and review arrangements for that specific plan. Timing and response vary between patients.
How do anti-wrinkle injections work?
They use a prescription-only medicine to reduce selected muscle activity temporarily. This is different from replacing volume or resurfacing the skin. A prescriber must assess whether the option is appropriate before it is used.
When do effects develop, and how long do they last?
Effects develop gradually and are temporary. Onset, duration and review timing depend on the medicine, area, individual response and agreed plan. Your clinician explains what is realistic for you; no fixed duration is promised.
Can an injection be uncomfortable?
Injection-site discomfort can occur, and individual experience varies. Ask your clinician what to expect and what comfort measures are appropriate for the specific procedure.
What recovery should I plan for?
Redness, tenderness, swelling or bruising may occur. Other risks and recovery needs depend on the area, medicine and individual. The absence of downtime cannot be guaranteed; discuss upcoming activities before deciding.
What happens before a procedure?
The consultation includes relevant history, examination, previous treatment and your expectations. The doctor explains suitability, the proposed option, material risks, alternatives and costs before you decide whether to consent.
Where do I find preparation and aftercare instructions?
Read the information supplied for your individual plan and complete the requested medical history before the appointment. Follow the clinic’s specific instructions after treatment and use the supplied contact details if you have concerns.
