Shoulder contour: consultation and function
A shoulder contour consultation starts with the change you want to discuss and how the neck and shoulders function. Cosmetic preferences, symptoms and suitability require an individual medical assessment.

Function and safety come before contour.

The trapezius is a large functional muscle involved in shoulder elevation, scapular control and neck movement. Assessment therefore includes strength, posture, previous injury, neurological history and the cause of any pain or tension.
Your doctor must assess the cause of the concern and the suitability of any proposed option. Cosmetic use of a prescription medicine in this area is outside its licensed indication. That needs an individual prescribing decision and an explanation of the evidence, uncertainties, risks and alternatives; it is not an assumed next step.
Potential risks include temporary injection-site effects, asymmetry, unwanted weakness, neck or shoulder fatigue and effects on function. These should be considered alongside the expected limits, alternatives and the option of no treatment before any decision.
From your concern to an informed decision
Treatment is subject to consultation and an individual plan.
01 · Choose an area Tell us what you want to discuss
Choose the concern or area, review the factual price information and book a doctor consultation. Selecting an area does not confirm a procedure.
02 · Consultation Assess suitability and alternatives
The doctor reviews your history, the relevant anatomy and your goals. Discuss risks, expected limits, alternatives and total cost before deciding.
03 · Agreed plan Know the preparation and aftercare
If treatment is appropriate, you receive information for the specific procedure and review arrangements. Another approach or no treatment may be recommended.

The details behind your treatment choice
Explore the concern, the assessment and the questions to discuss before deciding.
Trapezius prominence
The upper trapezius is assessed from the front, side and back, including muscle bulk during shoulder elevation. The clinician distinguishes muscular prominence from posture, skeletal structure and other contributors to the outline.
Assessment does not mean that a procedure is needed or appropriate. The cause of the appearance, normal function and the individual risk discussion guide the next step.
Your concern and normal function
Explain the appearance or symptoms you want to discuss and which activities matter to you. The consultation considers whether the concern is cosmetic, functional or needs a different health assessment.
The doctor should explain which features are realistically changeable, what may remain unchanged, the evidence and uncertainties for any proposed option, and whether no treatment is preferable.
Tension symptoms
Neck or shoulder discomfort can have muscular, joint, nerve, postural or other causes. Symptoms and red flags are reviewed, but cosmetic TrapTox is not a substitute for medical investigation, physiotherapy or treatment of an underlying condition. A consultation may therefore recommend another route or no treatment.
Symmetry and function
The trapezius contributes to shoulder elevation, scapular control and neck movement. Assessment includes baseline strength, posture, neurological history, previous injury and natural asymmetry. Because unwanted weakness or fatigue can affect function, treatment is planned conservatively and may be declined when the risk outweighs the likely benefit.
Area selection, prices and your next step
Use the areas and prices panel to find the concern you want assessed. Prices are subject to consultation, and the selected area is carried into a doctor consultation request.
The final treatment plan, risks and total charge are discussed before treatment. A £50 doctor consultation reservation fee applies; current terms are shown before booking.
