Cellulite creams: claims and skin tolerance

Cellulite creams: claims and skin tolerance

A product described as a cellulite cream should not be assumed to remove cellulite. A smoother or more moisturised skin surface is not proof that a cream has broken down fat or changed the structure beneath the skin.

Assess the actual claim

Check what evidence exists for the exact product and the result being advertised. The presence of caffeine, retinol or a botanical ingredient does not establish that every formula will reduce cellulite. Reviews and before-and-after photographs alone cannot establish effectiveness or a guaranteed duration.

Skin tolerance matters

Natural ingredients and essential oils can irritate skin or cause a reaction. Follow the product instructions and stop using it if it irritates. A small-area trial is not a medical allergy test or a guarantee against a later reaction.

A personal choice

You do not need a cream, a course of procedures or a cellulite-free body. This article does not endorse a particular product or promise that combining it with exercise or a clinic procedure will remove cellulite.

Before buying a treatment

A clinic device or combination treatment needs evidence and an individual assessment of its own. A cream article does not establish that laser, radiofrequency or ultrasound will produce faster or better results.
