Fat Freezing and Liposuction: Different Procedures
Fat Freezing and Liposuction: Different Procedures
Lipo does not define a procedure
Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes fat. Cryolipolysis uses external controlled cooling for selected local fat bulges. The two are not interchangeable, and a label such as fat-freezing lipo does not identify the actual method, device or intended area. Ask precisely what is proposed before comparing outcomes or prices.
Do not assume a safer equivalent
A treatment without an incision still has risks, and it cannot be presented as providing a surgical result with none of the complications. Neither a generic fat-freezing page nor a service name establishes that surgery, another energy-based method or an injected product is suitable or offered. Different procedures require their own assessment, evidence and consent.
Risks of cryolipolysis
Controlled cooling can cause harm even though it does not require an incision. Possible problems include pain, bruising, swelling, altered sensation, cold burns and an uneven contour. A delayed firm enlargement of the treated area, called paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, can occur instead of reduction and may require surgery; correction is not assured. Ask who will assess a complication and how follow-up is arranged. Choosing no treatment is an option.
Individual assessment and aftercare
An assessment should review the proposed area, skin and circulation, previous procedures, medical conditions and medicines. Cold-related disorders, poor circulation and a hernia or weakness near an abdominal treatment area can make cooling unsuitable. Tell the practitioner about pregnancy or breastfeeding. Follow the instructions for the actual device and your individual plan; do not stop prescribed medicines or add massage, compression or extreme cooling on the basis of a general article. This information does not confirm that a particular device or treatment is offered at a Dr Sknn clinic.
