Lips Peeling After Filler: When to Seek Advice
Lips Peeling After Filler: When to Seek Advice
Do not assume peeling is routine
Peeling after lip filler needs to be considered alongside the timing, product used and any other symptoms. A web page cannot establish the cause. It should not be explained automatically as filler drawing water away from the lip surface, or blamed on poor aftercare. Contact the treating practitioner for advice.
Know when to seek urgent help
Seek immediate medical attention for unusual or worsening pain, pale, grey or blue skin near the treated area, or any change in vision. Difficulty breathing or rapidly developing swelling also needs emergency help. Do not wait for a routine cosmetic appointment or for peeling to settle when these occur.
Avoid adding irritation
Do not pick, scrub or exfoliate the affected lips to remove peeling skin. Follow the aftercare plan and ask the treating practitioner what is appropriate to apply. Drinking extra water, a home oil or a lip scrub cannot be relied on to resolve a filler complication.
Arrange assessment for ongoing concerns
Persistent or worsening peeling, new sores, discharge or other changes should be assessed. Tell the practitioner when symptoms started and what products you have applied. Advice needs to account for the actual findings; it cannot promise a recovery time or the final cosmetic result.
