Skincare for dark marks and prevention claims
Skincare for dark marks and prevention claims
A cream labelled for pigmentation is not one standard treatment. Darker marks can have different causes, and the right approach depends on what the mark is and how your skin responds. Normal skin colour does not need to be lightened.
Assess the product, not the promise
An ingredient name, a high price or a positive review does not establish that a particular cream will clear your marks. Look for clear labelling and realistic information about the exact product. Cosmetic skincare and prescribed treatments are different; do not copy a medicine regimen from a general skincare article.
Care that avoids irritation
Choose gentle products you tolerate and follow their instructions. Stop a cosmetic product that burns, stings or causes irritation. Using more products or applying them more often can irritate skin and may leave further dark marks. Sun protection remains useful whether or not you use a pigmentation product.
When to seek advice
A new, changing, bleeding or unexplained mark needs appropriate healthcare assessment before attempts to fade it. This page cannot diagnose a mark or promise a result. It does not confirm a prescription product or a particular treatment is available at a Dr Sknn clinic.
Prevention is not guaranteed
Sun protection and avoiding irritation can be sensible parts of care, but a cream cannot promise that no new marks will appear.
